The new myenergi zappi GLO untethered EV charger has officially launched in the UK, giving electric vehicle owners another option for smart, solar-compatible home charging.
Following the introduction of the tethered zappi GLO, the new untethered model offers the same intelligent charging technology in a cable-free design, allowing homeowners to use their own compatible Type 2 charging cable.
With smart tariff compatibility, solar PV integration and control through the myenergi app, the zappi GLO range is designed to make electric vehicle charging more convenient and cost-effective.
How Much Does the New zappi GLO Untethered Cost?
The myenergi zappi GLO untethered has a manufacturer's suggested retail price of £539 including VAT (£449 excluding VAT, rounded).
This is the charger-only price and excludes professional installation.
The final installed price will depend on factors such as your property's electrical supply, the position of the charger, cable routing and any additional electrical work required.
UK Green Energy Installations provides tailored EV charger installation quotations for customers across Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire.
zappi GLO Tethered vs Untethered – What's the Difference?
The main difference between the two zappi GLO models is how the charging cable connects to the charger.
Tethered zappi GLO
The tethered version includes a permanently attached 6.5-metre Type 2 charging cable, making it convenient for everyday use. Simply park, plug in and charge.
Untethered zappi GLO
The new untethered version features a Type 2 charging socket, allowing drivers to connect their own compatible charging cable and store it away when not required.
This can be particularly appealing to homeowners who prefer a discreet installation without a permanently visible cable.
Both models offer smart charging, solar compatibility, myenergi app control and RFID access.
Smart EV Charging with Solar Panels
One of the key advantages of the zappi GLO is its ability to integrate with solar PV systems.
For homeowners with solar panels, the charger can help make use of surplus solar electricity that might otherwise be exported to the grid.
This allows electric vehicle owners to make better use of their own renewable energy generation and potentially reduce the amount of electricity purchased from their supplier.
You don't need solar panels to benefit from zappi GLO, however. The charger can also be used with grid electricity and compatible smart electricity tariffs.
Smart Tariff Compatibility and myenergi App Control
The zappi GLO range supports smart charging features that can help drivers take advantage of lower-cost electricity periods.
Using the myenergi app, homeowners can monitor charging activity, manage charging schedules and integrate their EV charger with other compatible myenergi devices.
This flexibility makes zappi GLO suitable for homeowners who already have solar panels, those considering a future solar installation and drivers simply looking for convenient home EV charging.
Is the New zappi GLO Untethered Available in the UK?
The new myenergi zappi GLO untethered is now available through the manufacturer's UK distributor network, offering homeowners an additional choice when selecting a smart EV charger.
As with any EV charger installation, the overall cost will depend on your property's electrical supply, charger location, cable routing and any additional electrical work required.
